Book Review - Shattered by Teri Terry | ★★★★

SPOILER ALERT! DO NOT CONTINUE READING THE REVIEW FOR SHATTERED IF YOU HAVE NOT YET READ SLATED AND FRACTURED, YOU MAY GET SPOILED!

And again, the story continues to follow Kyla´s life after she was slated, found out about Ben and her leaving after the explosion of Nico´s com. After everything that happened, Kyla is finally ready to find out who she is and where she comes from. With the help of MIA(Missing in Action)-Member Aiden, she has the chance to get a new identity and travel to Keswick, the place where her mother should live.

While in Keswick, she discovers more and more about her past and at the same time lots of memories come back, mostly about her father, who she now knows died trying to safe her. But the more she finds out, the more disturbing it gets, because what Stella, her mother, tells her does mostly not go along with the memories Kyla´s getting back. For one point that is, that Stella and Daniel aren´t Kyla´s real parents.
"You, my dear, are getting curiouser and curiouser. Like Alice down the rabbit hole, nothing is as it appears."
Kyla wants to find out even more about her past and wanders along the places of her memory. It works. But not only things about her past are discovered, Kyla gets to an orphanage where young children, even toddlers, are held in secret. They all are slated, a process that only is allowed on twelve to sixteen year old. She realises how out of control and immoral Lorders and the Government are becoming. She´s sure now, to do everything it takes to stop this. She wants to join MIA and uncover the government to the people.

Her cover gets blown and she has to disappear very fast, she gets back to Aiden and is given a surprise: Ben. He still doesn´t remember her, but is willing to try get their past back. Deep down Kyla knows something is wrong. Will she find out what it is? Will she finally get to know where she´s from?
"It doesn´t look much from the outside. But what you get outside is often like that. People, especially, can be so different from what you can see that you´d never guess what goes on in their secret places. What they are capable of."
This book took me in right from the beginning. Kyla´s three identities which were troublesome in the second book, weren´t any problem in this one. It was the perfect end to this trillogy and in my opinion couldn´t have been any better. I loved the final development of Kyla´s character and was way more pleased with her dessicions and acting as at the beginning. Without a second thought, the best book of the series.
